The Active Monal Cultural Association, a popular group of Himachal in the field of theatre, is always active in creating and successfully staging their plays and dramas which are filled with entertainment and moral values. Recently, their play ‘Dugadh Dhenu’
created in the local ‘Hirnatar’ theatre style was staged in four different villages of Kullu. The play was first staged at the Shastrinagar Mahila Bhawan auditorium. The famous writer Keher Singh Thakur had written the story of the play. The association is very popular in Kullu so a huge crowd came to enjoy the creativity of the association in their play. The story of the play revolved around a true story of a ruler of Kullu who was very much cruel in his time and people were not happy during his rule. The story of the play was very well presented by artists and thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. The play was based on a cruel king of Kullu who proved to be a bad king for the women of that time. The play showed the revenge of all the harassed women from the cruel king. To deceive the king, women performed folk play in front of the king and while dancing during the play they killed the king to end his atrocities forever. Main characters in the play were played by Kuldeep, Meenakshi, Aarti, Shyam Babita and Vaibhav.
