Gaiety Theatre situated on the Mall Road in Shimla is becoming famous day by day ever since it was established and opened on May 30, 1887. Many popular film personalities have performed on its stage. Situated in the middle of the Mall Road, this unique theatre is attracting many Indian and foreign tourists. This restored Gothic Intimate Theatre adorned with beautiful Paper Mache panels is reminiscent of old colonial era. Almost hundreds of tourists visit this historical theatre everyday. Many tourists like its architecture very much. Today, the Gaiety is primarily known for its social club. Schools in Shimla use this theater for performing arts. The theater has been renovated with the original structure untouched to keep its heritage preserved while making it more attractive. The Gothic style Gaiety Theatre has different halls for different purposes including exhibition Hall (Tavren Hall), Gothic hall, Art Gallery, Multipurpose hall, Conference hall and Amphitheatre. After the renovation of Gaiety, It has become more beautiful. Recently, for the facility of tourists a conductive tour programme has also started through which almost 200 foreign tourists are visiting the theatre. Apart from this, almost 40, 000 tourists have browsed the site of Gaiety Theatre in the last three years. Almost 1200 to 1500 foreign tourists are visiting Gaiety Theatre every month in Shimla. The Theatre has witnessed performances of many great artists and shooting of many Hindi movies. A song of the movie Gaddar- Ek Prem Katha has been picturised here.

The entire Gaiety Theatre is now equipped with modern technology. Multipurpose hall equipped with 10,000 lumens HD 3Chip DLP Projection system, Array Sound System, mechanized curtains and Stage lights and is having best of acoustics with seating capacity for 450 people. Seminar / Conference hall is having flexible seating arrangement and can be used for both seminar and conference purposes, having capacity of around fifty people for seminar and twenty eight delegate for conference. hall is equipped with State of the Art Digital Wireless Conference system
