First Woman Driver of Himachal Police

Richa Sharma, a woman constable in the Himachal Police is a perfect example of women empowerment. Hailing from Sanog village of Chopal, Richa Sharma became the first woman driver of Himachal Pradesh Police Department. Richa was very fond of driving right from her childhood days. 25 years old Richa is now handling the vehicles of the Police Department in Chhota Shimla. She can now handle all type of vehicles. She is an inspiration for all women of the state. After doing much hard work to learn driving, she is now a very good driver. Richa told that she belongs to a very small village and faced so many problems in her childhood. She is having seven sisters and one younger brother in her family that depends on agriculture. Like Richa Sharma, many of the women constables have been trained in driving and martial arts to handle tricky situations. Other women constables will also be selected for patrolling in the hill state to protect women. This decision has been taken for the security of women of the state after the Delhi gang rape incident.
