Nearly 50 Per cent Bridges in Himachal in Dilapidated Condition
Himachal This WeekBesides serpentine roads of Himachal, the old bridges constructed during the British rule have also become a major threat to human life in the state. These bridges have outlived their age but still are being used for vehicular traffic. According to Public Works Department, there are a total of 1700 bridges in Himachal, out of which 800 or nearly fifty 50 per cent were constructed during the British Rule. These bridges are in dilapidated condition and are demanding immediate replacement. Some of these bridges have already crumbled.
