Industrial development in Himachal remained sluggish until this hilly state got a special industrial package during the Vajpaye led NDA government that allured investors’ to set up their units here. However, uncertainty over the period of industrial package during last five years proved to be a bottleneck in the desired industrialization. Now this package is available in a new shape until 2017 and the government hopes to woo investors in a big way. On the pattern of other states, Himachal has also planned to hold investor meets in December in four major cities of the country in November to attract investment. The state’s focus is likely to remain more on manufacturing sector as it can generate huge employment opportunities.
