GAURI SHANKAR KULLU
Jagatsukh the erstwhile capital of Kullu, is one of the biggest villages in Kullu district located 6 km south of Manali and is known to serve as excellent base for trekking. This beautiful hamlet is dotted with numerous old temples built with Shikhara style. Shiva temple is the main attraction of the village. The Jagatsukh Shiva Temple is an ancient temple built during the 8th century. It is best to visit the place during May to October and it will take around 2 to 3 hours to explore the region. Quaintly located guest houses, fruit orchards and the annual Chachohli Jatra Festival are some attractions that too helped the village craft a place for itself in any tourist holiday circuit. Gaurishankar and the Chatet-roofed temple are some of the nearby attractions which are also worth visiting.
How to Reach
By Road: It is well connected by road from Chandigarh and Delhi. Regular buses, coaches and taxies ply from Delhi and Chandigarh.
By Train: The nearest rail head is Chandigarh which is 320 km away.
By Air: The nearest airport is Bhunter which is about 50 km and 10 Km beyond Kullu.
