‘I am not compelled to Resign’
Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has said that he is not compelled to resign as Congress lost all four Lok Sabha seats and Sujanpur assembly by-poll. Talking to media persons in Shimla, he said the state government was stable as it has mandate of the people of Himachal. “The Congress has faced similar situation at the national level earlier also, “he said, hoping that the party would bounce back more strongly. Virbhadra admitted that Modi wave also prevailed in Himachal that became stronger after Narendra Modi’s visits to the state.

Shanta Registers Massive Victory
Senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar has registered emphatic victory from Kangra Lok Sabha seat thus becoming first leader to represent this constituency for the fourth time. पहाड़ी प्रदेश हिमाचल मे युवतियों के लिए कब्बडी में मिसाल बन चुकी गिरिपार की तिकड़ी में शामिल एक खिलाड़ी निर्मला ने हौसलों की उड़ान को मजबूत करते हुए जिले की पहली महिला कब्बडी कोच बनने का गौरव हासिल किया है। कब्बडी में गजब की प्रतिभा व जुनून की धनी निर्मला ने कब्बडी कोच की ट्रेनिंग पूरी करने के बाद भी कब्बडी खेलना नही छोड़ा। नतीजा यह कि आज वह इंडिया कैंप के लिए भी सेलेक्ट हो चुकी है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय गोल्ड मेडलिस्ट प्रियंका नेगी व रितु नेगी के साथ एक ही बैच मे कब्बडी के क्षेत्र में आगे बढ़ते हुए बिलासपुर होस्टल पहुंची निर्मला ने क्षेत्र की बालाओं के लिए मिसाल कायम कर दी है कि लड़कियां सिर्फ घास व गोबर ढोने के लिए ही नहीं जन्मी बल्कि वे ऐसे क्षेत्र में भी आगे बढ़ सकती हैं, जिसे विशेषता पुरुषों की फील्ड कहा जाता था। आज इन्हीं का जुनून है कि गिरिपार में लड़कियां खाली समय में पुरुषों की गेम कही जाने वाली कब्बडी बड़े शौक से खेलती हैं। 30 मार्च, 1989 को क्षेत्र के सब काडर एरिया के कुहंठ गांव मे जगत सिंह व नागो देवी के घर जन्मी कब्बडी कोच निर्मला की प्रारंभिक पढ़ाई गांव में ही हुई। 8वीं की परीक्षा साथ लगते गांव टिम्बी से पास करने के बाद परिवार की माली हालत उसे आगे पढ़ने की इजाजत नहीं दे रही थी, परंतु बेटी के पढ़ाई के शौक को देखते हुए किसान पिता ने उसे आगे पढ़ाने का निर्णय लिया। पिता का यह निर्णय ही इस प्रतिभा के जीवन का टर्निंग प्वाइंट रहा। जमा दो तक की पढ़ाई पूरी करने के लिए शिलाई गई निर्मला को वहां कब्बडी खेलने का अवसर मिला। तत्कालीन दबंग व प्रसिद्ध पीईटी हीरा सिंह ठाकुर ने उसकी प्रतिभा परख कर उसे कब्बडी का पूरा ज्ञान दिया। निर्मला जब 12वीं में पढ़ती थी तो उसे बिलासपुर में आयोजित ट्रायल का मौका मिला, जहां से उसकी सिलेक्शन स्टेट होस्टल बिलासपुर के लिए हुई। निर्मला के मुताबिक कब्बडी में उसकी रुचि पहले से ही थी। जब वह 5वीं मे पढ़ती थी तो स्कूल में कब्बडी खेला करती थी। परन्तु शिलाई जाने के उपरांत व पीईटी हीरा सिंह ठाकुर की कोचिंग के बाद उसके खेल में निखार आया। बिलासपुर होस्टल में रहते हुए निर्मला ने अपनी ग्रेजुएशन पूरी की और इसी दौरान प्रदेश को अपनी प्रतिभा से दर्जनों मेडल दिलवाए। निर्मला ने राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर अपने कब्बडी हुनर का आगाज वर्ष 2005 में जूनियर नेशनल टूर्नामेंट खेलकर किया। वर्ष 2012-13 सत्र में कब्बडी कोच का डिप्लोमा पूर्ण कर चुकी निर्मला ने अभी तक करीब डेढ दर्जन सीनियर, जूनियर, बीच व वूमन नेशनल कब्बडी टूर्मामेंट खेले हैं, जिसमें वह प्रदश के लिए कई गोल्ड, सिल्वर व ब्रांज मेडल जीत चुकी हैं। निर्मला का इंडियन कब्बडी कैंप के लिए भी दो बार चयन हुआ, परंतु वजन कम होने के चलते उसका इंडिया टीम में सिलेक्शन नहीं हो पाया था। प्रदेश की तरफ से खेलते हुए निर्मला ने दिल्ली, चंडीगढ़, कर्नाटका, मुंबई, झारखंड, हरिद्वार, तमिलनाडु, मदुरै व उज्जैन आदि राज्यों में शानदार कब्बडी खेलते हुए प्रदेश की शान को चार चांद लगाए हैं। निर्मला इंडिया टीम में सिलेक्शन न होने से हताश नही हुई तथा अपने जैसे प्रतिभाशाली खिलाडि़यों को इंडिया टीम में पंहुचाने के सपने को लेकर कब्बडी कोच बनने का निर्णय लिया। यही नहीं, निर्मला ने कब्बडी खेलना नहीं छोड़ा और कब्बडी के प्रति लगन का फल उसे मिल गया और उसकी नेशनल कैंप के लिए सिलेक्शन हो गई। यह अलग बात है कि प्रदेश की झोली मे दर्जनो स्वर्ण, रजत व कांस्य पदक डाल चुकीं शिलाई क्षेत्र की निर्मला की प्रदेश सरकार कोई सुध नही ले रही है। एक वर्ष पूर्व बंगलूर से कब्बडी कोच का डिप्लोमा पूरा कर चुकी कुमारी निर्मला रोजगार की तलाश में दर- दर भटक रही है, लेकिन प्रदेश का नाम रोशन करने वाली इस बाला को अपने प्रदेश ने ही जैसे बेगाना कर दिया है!
A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens’ group which is organized on a local, national or international level to plug in the gaps left by the government. Task-oriented and driven by people with a common interest, NGOs perform a variety of service and humanitarian functions, bring citizen concerns to Governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation through provision of information. Some are organized around specific issues, such as human rights, environment or health. India as a nation still has a large population that is vulnerable in terms of health, education, jobs and opportunities in general. This has also seen a large proliferation of NGOs. By some estimates, India has 3.3 million NGOs or one NGO for every 400 individuals. Out of it 312 NGOs operate in Himachal alone. Himachal This Week has tried to bring to fore the working of genuine NGOs who work for the welfare of masses. This week will find the mention of ‘Udaan, Shimla’ which is working for the welfare of special children.
The journey of Udaan is a story of invincible spirit and unflinching dedication. It’s about the experience of meeting the needs of children with ‘special needs’ and thus illuminating lives. Udaan, the parents and guardians’ society of mentally challenged children is an organisation committed for the cause of special kids and is running a day care centre, vocational centre and two respite care centres (residential facilities) for such children at Shimla since 2002. The project is one of its kinds in Himachal, which is being run in association with “National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities.” The learning centre (TLC) of Bishop Cotton School, Shimla is also closely associated with Udaan. Initially, Udaan started as a pilot project for one year in Shimla in 2001 at the behest of the National Trust, and was left like an open-ended question with no future. Thereafter, with the exhortation of Mrs Mustafi, the then headmistress of Junior BCS, Udaan initiated as an NGO in 2002. Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Udaan is also catering to people in Rohru and Kothkai blocks – a day care centre called Astitiva is being run in Rohru. At least 20 children are regularly attending this day care centre. Udaan is also running home-based programmes for bed-ridden special children in Shimla as well as Rohru and Kotkhai blocks, where special educators make frequent home visits. Special education is imparted in day care centres by qualified educators. In vocational centre children get the training of money concept, time concept, making paper bags and candle making skills. These skills enable them to earn their bread and butter. Last year these children sold candles of Rs.90,000 only at Auckland House School. The NGO also takes care of the health of special children and also equips their parents with the tips to tackle such persons at home. Every month a team of Dental doctors visit here for dental check up and advise the parents about oral hygiene. Dr. Sudhir Sharma Head of Neurology Department, IGMC Shimla too visits the school every month and advises the parents of these children about the health and give them the tips of handling such children at home.
Yesteryears when his war cry in the battlefield rattled the enemies, now his voice is not being heard in a world where money makes the mare go. The real hero who deserves to be remembered lost in the present day economics. This is an irony of present time. People have a fad to forget many such heroes who have created a difference in the society with their heroic acts, the acts that entitle them the status of real hero. Can one recall– who is Dev Parkash? If you do not know, here is the answer. Dev Parkash is winner of Vir Chakra in Kargil War, who fought valiantly in Kargil for country’s honour. Now back from the olive green uniform is engaged in a different kind of battle which appears more difficult to him than the heights of Kargil. Today he finds himself at the receiving end of bureaucratic red tape. Notably, officials of his area including tehsildar and SDM do not know him while members of panchayat or a leader are well known to the officials. He has faced humiliation a number of times at the hands of civil administration, he complained. Sitting in his small house in village Dhundla on Una-Hamirpur highway, he seems to be a tired man. While talking to Himachal This Week he said that he made a number of sorties to DRM office at Ambala for renewal of his railway pass for the past seven years. He submitted copies of citation letter issued by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India recognising his act of gallantry performance and a copy of the Gazette of India (March 11, 2000) which states, “Naik Dev Parkash, section commander of 13 J and K Rifles, was tasked to assault Point 5140, a strategically important feature in Drass Sector during Op Vijay. He volunteered to move with his section and exhibiting excellent field craft, command and motivation which led to recapturing the strategically important feature.” Perhaps it was the quickest recapture of a post and that too without any injury and casualty to his men. His heroic effort fetched him the Vir Chakra. He said that the District Sainik Welfare Board, Una, paid him Rs 50,000 annually for his heroic achievement and Rs 2,000 per month by the Defence Ministry besides monthly pension. The official at DRM office did not accept these documents as ‘relevant’ and demanded full text of said gazette notification. He further rued that during his last visit to Ambala, the dealing hand while browsing through his documents suspected his identity. He says he was tired of visiting the authorities and hence decided not to visit the DRM office again. Every visit cost him Rs 1,000. He has to spend from his own pocket to visit Jabalpur for the renewal of his railway pass. “If a gallantry awardee is being treated like this for a small work, one can imagine what will happen to others ex-servicemen,” he remarked. The only son of his parents, Dev was passionate about joining the Army right from his childhood. His father was also an ex-serviceman. Today, father of two sons and a daughter, Dev said that he wanted one of his sons should join the Army and serve the nation like him. In spite of tall promises made by the government, he has not been able to get his son into the Army. He further stated that there were provisions of reservation for war widow and war casualty but there was no provision of reservation for gallantry award winners. Burdened with many family liabilities, he is in dire need of a job for his son at this stage of life. “It is not possible to pull on with such a meager income when one has no other source of income,” he said and added earlier he ran a small shop selling small items to supplement his income but he closed the shop now. During run up to the Lok Sabha election, Narendra Modi had addressed four election rallies in Himachal, one each in four parliamentary constituencies of the state. Striking a chord with people of Himachal he had assured to solve various problems confronting different areas of this hilly state once the BJP led government assumes power in the Centre. Now, the Centre will have Narendra Modi led national Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. The Centre and Himachal have government of different parties though the hilly state did not benefit much during the 10 year rule of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Centre. Himachal has not received any big package from the Centre after the then Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA government. Not only this, the Centre did not pay any heed in Himachal’s concerns during past one and a half year before Lok Sabha election, and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party raked this as an issue. Himachal is hoping that Modi government would fulfill aspirations of common people by solving state’s pending issues speedily on the pattern of other states. Himachal is reeling under a debt of Rs. 29,000 crore and Himachal’s many mega projects are pending. The biggest issue is of state’s share in Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB) projects as state is yet to get its due despite directions from the Supreme Court. Stand taken by Modi government can solve state’s problem on this aspect. Himachal’s dwindling economy can get a big boost if gets green bonus if Modi government announces separate package for Himalayan states.
According to the BJP announcements, good days are ahead. It remains to be seen whether Himachal will have good news on its pending issues or face political squabble. Earlier Dhumal government had been accusing Congress leaders of obstructing developmental projects being forwarded by the state for approval.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee led NDA government had granted special industrial package to Himachal with relief on central excise duty that attracted investors to set up their industrial units in a big way. Himachal can progress in industrialization rapidly if the Centre’s new government shows its seriousness on this issue.
This hilly state is lagging because of poor air connectivity as compared to Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir or any other state. Himachal doesn’t have a big airport that creates hurdles in promotion of industrialization and tourism sectors. Himachal has failed to develop high end tourism primarily due to poor air connectivity. It will be acid test for Modi government to come up to expectations of Himachal that has fully supported him.
Mega projects in Himachal are dumped at a speed faster than they are envisaged. Not even a single mega project has been implemented in Himachal, thanks either due to indifferent attitude of the Centre of politicking in the state. Development of industrial and tourism sectors is going at a snail’s pace due to lack of political and lethargic bureaucratic approach. Projects worth crores of rupees announced for Pong Reservoir is yet to be implemented because of Centre’s neglect coupled with failure of state officials to plead the case strongly as the government kept on changing in Himachal. Though schemes funded by Asian Development Bank are being implemented but Rs. 1500 crore project for Pong Reservoir that could have revolutionized tourism in the area could not be translated into realty.Ski Village project is being talked about for the past 10 years but could not be implemented reportedly due to pressure from local people and environmentalists. This project is again in limelight but the official sources deny having received any proposal from the concerned company. The previous Congress government had signed MoU with the company for Ski Village Project but it has been delayed due to various reasons including opposition from locals, permission held due to lack of requite NOCs and others. There have been claims and counter claims on its impact on the environment but experts feel that this could boost tourism sector immensely, especially high end tourism.
आनी-कुल्लू — चाइना बार्डर तक रेललाइन बिछाने के प्रयास होंगे, एनएच के कार्याें में गति दिलाएंगे, टूरिज्म को बढ़ावा देने में कोई कसर नही छोडूंगा, यह बात आनी में भाजपा के सांसद रामस्वरूप शर्मा ने आनी में कही। मंडी संसदीय क्षेत्र के नवनिर्वाचित सांसद भाजपा के रामस्वरूप शर्मा ने शुक्रवार को चुनाव जीतने के बाद आनी में मतदाताओं का और भाजपा मंडल सहित सभी भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं का उन्हें सांसद चुनने के लिए आभार जताया और आनी की जनता को भाजपा को 2531 मतों की बढ़त दिलवाने पर बधाई दी। आनी के राजा रघुबीर सिंह स्टेडियम में जनसभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि जीतने के बाद जब वह दिल्ली पहुंचे तो सबकी निगाहें केवल मंडी संसदीय क्षेत्र से जीत कर आए रामस्वरूप शर्मा को तलाश रही थीं कि आखिर ऐसा कौन शख्स है, जिसने न केवल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री की धर्मपत्नी को हराया, बल्कि राजाओं के राज को भी समाप्त कर दिया तो वहीं नरेंद्र मोदी ने तो स्वयं उन्हें आवाज देकर कहा कि रामस्वरूप तुमने मंडी का किला जीता तो कैसे जीता। उन्होंने कहा कि मंडी संसदीय क्षेत्र की जनता ने जो सम्मान उन्हें दिल्ली में दिलवाया है,उसके लिए वह सदैव जनता के ऋणी रहेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि आनी वालों ने उन्हें रोने नहीं दिया और जो प्यार उन्हें यहां की जनता ने दिया है, उस पर वह सदैव खरा उतरने की कोशिश करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि वह चीन के बार्डर तक रेल लाइन पहुंचाने के लिए हरसंभव प्रयास करेंगे और मंडी संसदीय क्षेत्र में उच्च मार्ग के जो भी कार्य लंबित पड़े हैं, उन्हें गति प्रदान करेंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि आनी को कुल्लू मुख्यालय से 12 महीने सड़क सुविधा से जोड़ने के लिए जलोडीजोत के नीचे प्रस्तावित सुरंग के निर्माण के लिए वह प्रयास करेंगे और आउटर सिराज के अंदर जो भी पर्यटन की दृष्टि से सुंदर स्थल है, उन स्थलों को पर्यटन के क्षेत्र में विकसित किया जाएगा। वहीं उन्होंने कहा कि मंडी संससदीय क्षेत्र में हवाई पट्टियों का विस्तार किया जाएगा। इससे पूर्व सराज के विधायक और भाजपा के पूर्व प्रदेशाध्यक्ष जयराम ठाकुर, मंडी संसदीय क्षेत्र के संगठन मंत्री शिशु भाई धर्मा, भाजपा मंडलाध्यक्ष अमर ठाकुर, पूर्व विधायक किशोरी लाल सागर, पंचायत समिति अध्यक्ष अन्नू ठाकुर ने भी अपने विचार रखे और सभी कार्यकर्ताओं का आभार जताया और जीत पर सबको बधाई दी तथा कार्यक्रम के बाद प्रत्याशी रामस्वरूप शर्मा सहित तमाम भाजपाई ने विशाल नाटी डालकर जीत का जश्न मनाया। इस अवसर पर मंडल के महामंत्री दुनी चंद ठाकुर, जीवन चौहान, वरिष्ठ भाजपा कार्यकर्ता गंगा राम चंदेल, तेज राम कश्यप, पूर्व मंडलाध्यक्ष कुशाल चौहान, योगेश परमार, शशि मल्होत्रा, रूप सिंह शर्मा, मोहर चंद भारद्वाज सहित कई अन्य लोग मौजूद थे।

प्रसिद्ध फोटोग्राफर रघु राय का जन्म पंजाब के झांग (अब पाकिस्तान में) में सन् 1942 में हुआ। रघु राय ने सिविल इंजीनियरिंग में डिग्री हासिल करने के बाद पंजाब में एक साल सरकारी नौकरी भी की, लेकिन नौकरी उन्हें रास नहीं आई। दिल्ली में उनके भाई और उनके दोस्त हर समय फोटोग्राफी, कैमरा और लेंस की बातें किया करते थे। भाई के एक मित्र योग जॉय अपने गांव जा रहे थे, तो रघु भी उनके साथ जाने की जिद करने लगे। भाई से एक कैमरा मांगा और गांव चले गए। गांव पहुंचते-पहुंचत शाम हो गई। वहां रघु गधे के एक छोटे से बच्चे की तस्वीर लेना चाहता थे, लेकिन वह भाग गया। रघु ने उसका पीछा किया और थक हारकर जब वह गधा रुक गया, तो उसकी तस्वीर खींच ली, जो बाद में लंदन टाइम्स में छपी। जैसे आज बच्चों में बचपन से ही प्रोग्रामिंग फिट कर दी जाती है। रघु के साथ ऐसा नहीं था। न उनका फोटोग्राफर बनने का कोई इरादा था। उन पर फोटोग्राफर बनने का कोई दबाव भी नहीं था। पिछले 47 सालों से रघु राय प्रोफेशनल फोटोग्राफर के रूप में काम कर रहे हैं, जिसमें से करीब 20 साल तक पत्रकारिता में रहे। वह भारत के प्रधानमंत्रियों, इंदिरा गांधी से लेकर राजीव गांधी और मनमोहन सिंह तक के पारिवारिक पलों को कैमरे में कैद करने के लिए जाने जाते हैं। फोटोग्राफी के अलावा वह भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत के भी शौकीन हैं। इसी शौक के चलते उन्होंने उस्ताद बिस्मिल्लाह खान और बांग्ला सिनेमा के प्रतीक सत्यजीत रॉय तक के अलग-अलग रंगों को कैमरे में कैद किया है। भारतीय शास्त्रीय संगीत की महान हस्तियां उनकी कला और पारंपरिक तस्वीरों में भी उतनी ही जीवंत दिखती हैं, जितनी कि मंच पर और खासकर ऐसा तब होता है जब कैमरे के लैंस के पीछे होते हैं फोटोग्राफर रघु राय। उन्हेें शास्त्रीय संगीत पसंद था। उनके पिता सिविल इंजीनियरिंग विभाग में एक प्रशासक थे और उन्हें एक इंजीनियर बनाना चाहते थे, पर वह फोटोग्राफर बन गए। रघु राय ने फोटोग्राफी में हॉरिजॉन्टल और वर्टिकल पैनोरमा में काफी कुछ दिखाने की गुंजाइश पैदा की है। वैसे तो फोटोग्राफी एक पल, एक क्षण को लेंस के जरिए कैद करने का हुनर है, लेकिन यही पल बाद में यादों की अनमोल विरासत और न बदलने वाला इतिहास बन जाता है।
राजकीय वल्लभ महाविद्यालय, मंडी कालेज के इतिहास की बात की जाए तो यह प्रदेश का सबसे पहला कालेज है। यह कालेज अक्तूबर 1948 से शुरू हुआ। वर्तमान में महविद्यालय में प्रो एमएस जम्वाल प्राचार्य रूप में अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे हैं। मंडी महाविद्यालय में इन दिनों 150 कर्मचारी अपनी सेवाएं दे रहे हैं। जिनमें 85 प्राध्यापक और 50 के करीब गैर शिक्षक कर्मचारी शामिल हैं। मंडी कालेज शहर के पड्डल मोहल्ले में अंतरराज्यीय बस अड्डा के समीप ही एनएच- 21 पर स्थापित है। यहां पर हर वर्ष पांच हजार से अधिक विद्यार्थी शिक्षा ग्रहण करते हैं। मंडी महाविद्यालय में विज्ञान, कला और वाणिज्य संकाय के साथ साथ बीबीए, बीसीए, बीएड और अन्य सेल्फ फाइनांशियल कोर्स करवाए जा रहे हैं। महाविद्यालय में एमए अंग्रेजी, एमए हिंदी, एमए पोलिटीकल साइंस, एमए अर्थशास्त्र, एमकॉम और एमएससी मैथ की कक्षाएं चल रही हैं। इसके साथ ही महाविद्यालय में पीजीडीसीए की कक्षाएं भी शुरू हो गई हैं। आईआईटी मंडी भी पिछले चार साल से इसी कालेज कैंपस में ही चल रही है। वहीं कालेज ने दो होस्टल भी आईआईटी को प्रदान किए हैं। जिसमें दो सौ छात्र- छात्राओं की रहने की सुविधा उपलब्ध है। महाविद्यालय के पास करीब एक सौ कमरे हैं। प्रधानाचार्य कार्यालय परिसर अलग से है। पुस्तकालय में 38 हजार से अधिक किताबें उपलब्ध हैं। महाविद्यालय में हाइटेक सभागार है। जिसमें ऑडियो सिस्टम फिक्स है। महाविद्यालय में फिजिक्स, केमिस्ट्री, बॉटनी, बायोटेक्नोलॉजी, ज्यूलॉजी की अलग- अलग लैब्स हैं। वहीं कम्प्यूटर की तीन लैब्स हैं, जिनमें दो सौ के करीब कम्प्यूटर लगे हैं। इंग्लिश स्किल को डिवेलप करने के लिए इंग्लिश लैंग्वेज लैब अलग से स्थापित की गई है, जो कि प्रदेश के सभी कालेज में सबसे पहली मंडी कालेज में स्थापित की गई। महाविद्यालय में संगीत विषय में संगीत वाद्य और संगीत गायन के अलग- अलग कक्ष हैं। महाविद्यालय परिसर में डाकघर शाखा बैंक शाखा भी खोली गई है। कैंटीन की सुविधा भी उपलब्ध है। महाविद्यालय में खेल-कूद को लेकर सभी प्रकार की सुविधाएं उपलब्ध है। महाविद्यालय में जिम्नेजियम भी खोला गया है। इसके साथ ही महाविद्यालय में खेल मैदान की भी सुविधा है। वहीं कालेज परिसर में रेस्लिंग रिंग भी स्थापित किया गया है। महाविद्यालय परिसर में 1988 से इग्नू का सेंटर चला हुआ है, जहां हर वर्ष साढ़े पांच सौ के करीब विद्यार्थी शिक्षा ग्रहण करते हैं। महाविद्यालय में विद्यार्थियों के स्वास्थ्य को मद्देनजर रखते हुए फार्मासिस्ट कार्यरत है। महाविद्यालय में एनसीसी आर्मी विंग और एयर विंग है, जो ब्वायज अैर गर्ल्ज दोनो में है। एनएसएस की तीन यूनिट हैं। जिसमें तीन सौ स्वयंसेवी शामिल होते हैं। महाविद्यालय की एजुकेशन सोसायटी बनी है, जिसके एजुकेशन मॉडल को पूरे प्रदेश में कालेजों में लागू किया गया है।
फोटोग्राफी खुद को व्यक्त करने का एक माध्यम है। फैशन फोटोग्राफर, वाइल्ड लाइफ फोटोग्राफर, इंडस्ट्रियल फोटोग्राफर, प्रोडक्ट फोटोग्राफी ट्रैवल एंड टूरिज्म फोटोग्राफी आदि न जाने कितने स्पेशलाइजेशन इस पेशे में हैं। फोटोग्राफी व्यक्ति के अंदर छिपी कला और रचनात्मकता की अभिव्यक्ति का जरिया है। अपनी भावनाओं को चित्रित करने के लिए कुछ लोग शौकिया फोटोग्राफी करते हैं और आगे चलकर अकसर वे अपने इस शौक को ही अपना कैरियर बना लेते हैं। टेक्नोलॉजी की तरक्की के साथ ही कम्युनिकेशन के माध्यम विकसित हुए। इसी के साथ ही फोटोग्राफी का भी विकास हुआ। आज हर छोटे-बड़े आयोजनों में, फैशन शो में, मीडिया क्षेत्र के अलावा अन्य जगह फोटोग्राफी का चलन बढ़ गया है। इन क्षेत्रों में डिजिटल फोटोग्राफी की मांग बढ़ी है। कहा जाता है कि एक फोटो दस हजार शब्दों के बराबर होती है। फोटोग्राफी एक कला है, जिसमें विजुअल कमांड के साथ-साथ टेक्निकल नॉलेज भी जरूरी है। फोटोग्राफी एक बेहतर कैरियर ऑप्शन साबित हो सकता है।
A Non Governmental Organization (NGO) is any non-profit, voluntary citizens’ group which is organized on a local, national or international level to plug in the gaps left by the government. Task-oriented and driven by people with a common interest, NGOs perform a variety of service and humanitarian functions, bring citizen concerns to Governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation through provision of information. Some are organized around specific issues, such as human rights, environment or health. India as a nation still has a large population that is vulnerable in terms of health, education, jobs and opportunities in general. This has also seen a large proliferation of NGOs. By some estimates, India has 3.3 million NGOs or one NGO for every 400 individuals. Out of it 312 NGOs operate in Himachal alone. Himachal This Week has tried to bring to fore the working of genuine NGOs who work for the welfare of masses. This week will find the mention of ‘People’s Action For People in Need (PAPN), Sirmaur’ which is working for the welfare of poor and ignorant people in the remote areas of Sirmaur district by making them aware of several policies and schemes run by the state and centre government for their benefit.
People’s Action For people in Need (PAPN) has been working for the welfare of people residing in rural areas of Sangrah development block of Sirmaur district since 1983. The NGO makes the life of poor people living in remote areas of the district easier by making them aware of policies and schemes run by the state and centre government for their benefit. This is done by organising meetings with the rural community living in the villages, organizing workshops and by providing training. The NGO coordinates with the School Management Committees, elected representatives of Panchayati Raj, various organizations and Government employees and officials in its endeavour to extend maximum benefit to the people of Sirmaur. Members of the NGO aware people from remote area of the district about policies like MNREGA and encourage them to register in such policies to make their life easier and ensure financial empowerment. The NGO is working for women, children, underprivileged section of the society and other section of the society left from development.
