And Himachal was no exception where the BJP won all four parliamentary seats comfortably, with its senior leader Shanta Kumar winning by a huge margin. Poll analysts point that previously people of Himachal had been going with the state government but this time electors have gone with the national trend. ‘I am not compelled to Resign’
Virbhadra Singh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has said that he is not compelled to resign as Congress lost all four Lok Sabha seats and Sujanpur assembly by-poll. Talking to media persons in Shimla, he said the state government was stable as it has mandate of the people of Himachal. “The Congress has faced similar situation at the national level earlier also, “he said, hoping that the party would bounce back more strongly. Virbhadra admitted that Modi wave also prevailed in Himachal that became stronger after Narendra Modi’s visits to the state.

Shanta Registers Massive VictorySenior BJP leader Shanta Kumar has registered emphatic victory from Kangra Lok Sabha seat thus becoming first leader to represent this constituency for the fourth time. Considered to be among senior most BJP leader in the country, Shanta Kumar had earlier won Lok Sabha election in 1989, 1998 and 1999 elections. “A new chapter has started in Indian politics as people have given mandate against corrupt government. Narinder Thakur wins Sujanpur by-poll
 The BJP candidate won Sujanpur assembly by-election by a narrow margin. Earlier Narinder Thakur had lost assembly elections on four occasions. His victory has also pushed Rajinder Rana and his family on sidelines in politics. Though Narinder Thakur trailed in the counting of votes initially but emerged victorious after 20th round of counting.

 Nervous Nine Nights before Counting
The candidates contesting Lok Sabha election had to spend nine anxious nights before counting of polls was held on May 16. Himachal This Week talked to them a couple of days prior to the counting date to know about their feelings.
 I fought election with full responsibility and grace even as Congress crossed all limits. One can not judge the mood of electors as people don’t reveal their feelings till the last moment
