Himachal ki Awaz 2013 Season 2 grand finale concluded at Sobha Singh Auditorium of Tanda Medical College as Vijay Kumar of Mandi district emerged as the winner with Triveni of Chamba and Gaurav of Bilaspur bagging the second and third places, respectively. The singing competition was a unique effort by state’s leading media group Divya Himachal to provide a platform to talented Himachali singers to showcase their talent. Divya Himachal has also been organising other events like Dance Himachal Dance and Miss Himachal beauty pageant to encourage the potentially talented youth of the state who want to pursue a career in these fields. These events not only bring talent to the fore but also provide them confidence and opportunity to excel in these fields. Divya Himachal Media Group Editor-in-Chief Anil Soni also emphasized during the grand finale of Himachal ki Awaz 2013 that the group would encourage and promote talent available in different fields by providing them opportunities to realise their dreams. The group has conducted Dance Himachal Dance and Himachal ki Awaz 2013 and the next event to follow in line is Miss Himachal 2014, the auditions for which will start shortly in different places in Himachal.
Sonam of Kangra Wins in Junior Category
Sonam of Kangra emerged as winner of ‘Himachal ki Awaz 2013′ in junior category after the grand finale in which 13 contestants participated. The contestants included 10 singers who had emerged as ‘Zila ki Awaz’ in their respective districts in addition to three others who got entry in the grand finale due to their singing talent. After the first round of the finals, Gauri Sharma, Sonam, Himanshi, Ritika, Wariz and Jacob were selected for the second round and ultimately the judges’ panel selected Sonam of Kangra as winner of Himachal ki Awaz 2013 in junior category. Gauri of Mandi distrct secured the second position whereas Wariz of Una bagged the third position.
Aiming at Playback Singing
Himachal ki Awaz 2013 winner Sonam is aspiring to become a playback singer. Hailing from a tiny village Bhated near Kangra, she is a Class X student and practices singing daily for two hours, surprisingly, without any guru. She attended music classes only for two months initially but had to leave due to some reasons. Currently, Sonam practices music at home. She had also reached semi finals of Himachal ki Awaz Season 1 last year but continued with his music practice to emerge as winner this year.
Singing as a Career
Runners up Gauri of Mandi district gives credit for her achievement to her parents who always encouraged her in the field of music. “I will continue my journey in the field of singing as platform provided by Divya Himachal Media Group has enhanced my confidence,” she said.
Mandi’s Vinod is Himachal ki Awaz
‘Thanks Divya Himachal…’
Vinod of Mandi district emerged as the winner of Himachal Ki Awaz 2013 whose grand finale was organised at Sobha Singh Auditorium of Tanda Medical College. The second place was bagged by Triveni of Chamba whereas Gaurav of Bilaspur district secured the third place in Season 2 of the singing competition organised by Divya Himachal Media Group. Editor-in-Chief Anil Soni presided over the concluding function whereas winner of TV reality show ‘The Bachorette India’ Vijay Singh was special guest on the occasion. Stiff competition was witnessed among 20 finalists who gave powerful performances in their effort to win the title. The first round included new songs, second round had folk songs whereas old songs were included in the third round. The judges’ panel was forced to short list seven contestants for the second round against six as all of them performed exceedingly well in the first round. The final list included Vinod Kumar, Anita, Samriti, Gaurav, Triveni, Rishabh and Sunil. Winner of ‘Himachal ki Awaz Season- 1′ Sunil also performed on the occasion to entertain the audience. Parveen Mehta also played an important role during the entire programme.

Himachal ki Awaz 2013 winner Vinod Kumar of Mandi in senior category got the music environment in his family and has a liking for classical music. He considers Pandit Tarun as his guru and role model. “I want to pursue career in music and grateful to Divya Himachal for providing me this platform that will help me in realising my dream, he said after winning the competition, adding, “I will put in every effort to reach at the top in the music field and entire Himachal will help me in my journey.”

‘Lata ji is Role Model’
Elated over her achievement in securing the second place in senior category of Himachal ki Awaz 2013, Triveni of Chamba district said, “My music teacher Gulshan Pal has always helped me in this field and I consider Lata Mangeshkar as my role model. I have got recognition in the entire state due to a platform provided to the budding singers by Divya Himachal.”
It is a unique initiative by Divya Himachal to provide a platform to the budding singers of the state though it is a very difficult job to organise such events
