Himachali youth are hard working by instinct and this trait has helped them in achieving new milestones in whatever they do. They are excelling in different sectors at national and international level due to their dedication to achieve goals. Be it any field, sports, education, army, administrative services or even private sector, Himachal youth have carved a niche if their performance during the past is any indication. Educationists feel that they have immense potential but need proper guidance to achieve their career objectives. Youth also need to explore job opportunities outside Himachal as they still have a tendency to endlessly wait for a government job in Himachal only, they opine. However, Himachali youth are seemingly dispelling this myth as 20,000 youth, according to an estimate, are shifting to other cities across the country in search of greener pastures.

They have proved their potential in diverse fields, including sports, education, adventure sports or any other field. Himachali youth have a liking to serve in the army as compared to other states. Vijay Kumar from Hamirpur, Samresh Jung from Sirmuar and Aanchal Rana from Kangra have won many international medals in the shooting for the country. And Suresh Rana of Kullu has become an icon in adventure sports due to his consistent achievements in Raid de Himalaya car rally and Desert Storm Rally over the past one decade. This year four Himachali cricketers will also show their mettle in T20 IPL matches, including Rishi Dhawan of Mandi, Vikramjit Malik of Solan, Ankush Bains of Una and Karanveer of Kangra. Sushma of Shimla has represented Indian women cricket team. Priyanka Negi of Sirmaur remained captain of the world cup winning Indian women kabaddi team.  Another upcoming boxer Shashikala Negi of Kinnaur has won medal in international events. Hundreds of doctors from the state are rendering their services in premier medical institutes of the country. Himachali youth have also registered their presence in civil services and politics.

Himachalies have also registered an emphatic presence in Bollywood as Preity Zinta, Kangana Ranaut, Rubina Dillek and singer Mohit Chauhan are household names across the country. Model Vijay Kumar of Dharamshala has won Mallika Sherawat’s The Bachelorette India TV realty show. Singer Nitin of Una rose to fame through SaReGaMaPa show. The list of Himachali youth shining in the tinsel town is endless as it also includes music director Shivi Kashyap, Girish Harnote in TV serials and many others
