The past year did not proved to be a peaceful year for Himachal. The hill state that once was synonym for peace and tranquility witnessed numerous criminal activities on the lines of one witness only in metropolitan cities. The state police failed to mark a full stop on murders, rape, kidnapping and theft cases even in 2013. Blood kept spilling and dignity of women too was compromised throughout the year in Himachal. On an average, one murder was reported every week and on every third day, incidents of kidnapping and rape of women were reported in Himachal. In total, 95 murders, 227 rapes, 330 kidnapping cases, 765 theft cases, 806 breaching cases and 10 cases of dacaoity were reported in eleven months in Himachal. However, the news of relief is that the crime rate has reduced a little bit as compared to previous year. Two percent of decrease in crime rate was reported in 2013 as compared to 2012 in Himachal. Kangra, Shimla, Mandi and Una districts were on the top of the crime list in 2012 and they maintained the same status in 2013 too.
