Music is Universal Language

Akhil is to Represent Himachal in the National Classical Solo Flute Championship at Kolkata

Akhil Kumar, who will represent in Himachali folk music category, is a resident of Dari (Dharamshala). He completed his primary education from the local school and then opted music subject at his graduation level, which he is doing from Dharamshala Degree College. Akhil got inspiration from his music professor Rajender Gurung and choose flute playing field. From block to state level he participated in many music competitions. His uncle Som Chand is very interested in classical music and he motivated Akhil a lot to choose music as a subject and profession.famous quote that says music is like water, it flows, and it has no boundaries no limits. It is something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we are from, everyone loves music. And even if the language is different, the one thing we all relate and connect with is the language of music. India is full of diversity in cultures, religions and music also. Different type of religions, languages and cultures make every state of India different from the others. Folk music of Himachal is also famous in other states of India, and now a budding flautist of Himachal will represent the state in National Classical Solo Flute Championship. Himachal’s budding flute player, Akhil Kumar of Dharamshala, will represent the state in this championship, and will be the only Himachali to participate there. The National Classical Solo Flute Championship will be organised in Kolkata from 11 to 15 March. Akhil is very excited about this championship.
He told Himachal This Week that his favourite raag is hansdhwani. With the tunes of this raag, he has won many classical music competitions. He told that in the national championship he will play madhuwanti raag with his flute. His role model is his uncle Som Chand. He wants to make a career in classical music. He says, “Music has a universal language and has no religion, it is a stress buster and is therapeutic and classical music is the base of other type of music.”

Himachalies Ready to Shine on Big Screen

Two new faces of Himachal are ready to shine on the big screen. Producer Ramesh Sharma has signed two budding actors in his upcoming movie ‘Shukla ji Street Mumbai’. This film is based on a novel. Ramesh Sharma told that he has signed two Himachli actors in his movie. The lead role will be played by his son Rohan Sharma and Riya Thakur from Kullu will also feature in the movie.
He told that the script of the movie is ready and the shooting will start soon. Director of the movie will be Rajesh Singh, music director will be Niranjan Ayegar and fight master will be Shyam Kaushal. This film has five songs and three songs of the movie have been composed. The shooting will start in March and will be completed within the next six months. Manoj Vajpayee will also be in this movie. Ramesh Sharma, who belongs to Hamirpur, has already worked with some renowned actors of Bollywood including Sunil Shetty, Yukta Mukhi, Sunny Deol and Ajay Devgan.
He has produced five Hindi, three Marathi and one Himachali movie before this. O Meri Kangna was his first and only Himachali movie. Ramesh Sharma is working in the film industry for past many years. This time he is going to introduce his son Rohan Sharma in the Bollywood industry through his new movie. Rohan has recently completed his Film Production and Acting Course in London. Apart from this, it will also be the first movie of Riya who has worked as a model earlier.

Abhishek Signs Two Bollywood Movies

If somebody has talent and wants do something good then there is no dearth of opportunities. A resident of a small village Garli, Abhishek Kaudinya has proved this. Hailing from a small village garli in Kangra district, Abhishek will soon be seen on the big screen. Famous Director Rafeek Ahmad has signed him for his two upcoming movies ‘One- Way’ and ‘Street Dogs’. He will be seen as the second lead actor of the movies.
He told Himachal This Week that he has already done some short movies including ‘LOC- the Playground’, which got the best short film award. He added that in this movie he played the role of an army officer. The special thing about this movie was that it was based on the cricket match played between the soldiers of India and Pakistan. Abhishek told that before this he has worked in two serials of Doordarshan including ‘Kul ki jyoti Kanya‘ and ‘Pehchaan‘. He has also played a strong character in the Zee TV serial Kubool Hai
