Sirmauri folk dance, a popular folk dance form in Himachal, is not only popular in the state but other states also like this traditional dance form. Recently, this dance form has made Himachal proud, as the girls of Amboya School (Sirmaur) won the first prize while performing Sirmauri
natti in the All India Under-19 Schools Cultural and Sports Championship held at Bhopal. Amboya team represented Himachal in this championship and brought laurels to the state. After the best performance in the state cultural events, the team was selected to compete at the national level. The Amboya team consisted of 18 girl participants namely Kajal, Divya, Ranjna, Shruti, Taruna, Rama, Manisha, Minakshi, Manisha, Nikita, Rabina, Ashima, Vijay, Manjeet, Vishakha, Babli, Bharati and Rabina. Himachali team got a cash prize of Rs. 51, 000, a commendation letter and a trophy. Education Minister, Madhya Pradesh, Paras Jain presented the award to the winners in the concluding ceremony. Chattisgarh team remained on the second place and the host Madhya Pradesh team had to be satisfied at the third position. The cultural function included different folk dances of different states.
